How to quickly find the middle colour using the colour mixer

Select the colour A and B separately, then drag the percentage slider in the middle, and you can see the result color updated in real time with the scale. This approach is more stable than manual speculation for colour scenarios such as buttons that are suspended, card background, brand-aided colours and icons.

Tools will be able to output three common formats: HEX is suitable for direct copying to design tools and CSS, RGB is appropriate for front-end and image processing, and HSL is better suited to continue adjusting colour, saturation and visibility.

Common use of scenes

  • Find more natural transition colours for web buttons, labels and status colours.
  • A stable middle level is generated between brand and auxiliary colours.
  • Try new colour directions for illustrations, posters and social media cover.
  • Quick test light background, dark background and emphasis grouping during the development phase.

What do you think of the color mix?

When the ratio is A 70%: B 30%, the result is closer to the colour A; When the ratio is approaching 50%: 50%, you get a more even middle colour. If you want the final color to keep the main tone with a little support color, you can start with 60%: 40% or 70%: 30%.

If you aim to create a level of interface, it is recommended that the brand name be identified and then mixed with white, black or auxiliary colours; If you aim to make creative colours, you can start with presets and quickly find more inspirational directions.

FAQ

The color mixer is suitable for designers or developers?

Both fit. This allows designers to explore visual transition colours, and developers can copy HEX, RGB, HSL directly into CSS, Canvas or other front-end style codes.

Why are the same two colors, different proportions much different?

Because each slider adjustment changes the combined colour values of the three channels. When the two colors are contrasted more strongly, or one of them is saturated more than 10%, even a change in vision can make a difference.

Can I use this tool to make a first draft of the brand?

Yes. It's good for quick identification of two to three possible directions, and then for bringing the results into Figma, Sketch or your front-end projects to continue fine-tuning and validation.

Whether you're doing web buttons, brand owner vision, graphic colour, or CSS colour experiments, this free online colour mixer will help you find a reasonable middle colour in the shortest time and copy it directly into the design or code.
