What is the scatter map and its role in data analysis?
Scatter Plót is the most visual tool in statistics to demonstrate the relationship between the two continuous variables. By drawing points on a direct angle coordinates, the coordinates (x, y) of each point represent two properties of an observation value. The main purpose of the break-up chart is to identify whether the variables are relevant, the intensity of the correlation and the direction of the correlation (positive, negative or unrelated).
How do we interpret the relevant coefficient?
In our tools, you will be automatically given a Pearson Correlation Coefficient. R values range between -1 and +1:
- R = 1Perfect positive correlation, all points precisely on a straight line.
- 0.7 < R < 1: Strongly relevant, with a significant increase in variables associated with another variable.
- R = 0: No relevance, no linear pattern between variables.
- -1 < R < -0.7: Strong and negative correlations, with a significant decrease in variables associated with another variable.
Meaning of linear regression equations
This tool not only draws points but automatically prepares a " best-sineering line " (linear regression line). Return equation y = mx + b It reveals a mathematical model between variables. This model allows you to predict the general trend of variable Y when you change from variable X. This is of great value in commercial forecasting, engineering experiments and economic analysis.
