In-depth knowledge of Hash: the cornerstone of data security and integrity

Hashi algorithm (also known as hash algorithm) is a method of creating digital fingerprints from any data. It converts any input of length to a string of fixed lengths by a mathematical function. A core feature of Hashi is that even if the input data changes very slightly (even if only one character is changed), the resulting Hashi values vary from one day to another.

Why use the Hash generator?

  • Document completeness verification: When you download large software or system mirrors from the Internet, the official supply of SHA-256 is usually available. Check the code. This tool calculates and compares the value of the downloaded document with the Hashi value, ensuring that the document is not damaged or tampered with in the transmission process.
  • Password secure storage: Modern systems never directly store user-specific passwords. Instead, they store the password's Hash value. When you log in, the system calculates and matches the Hash you entered. This makes it difficult for the attackers to obtain the explicit password directly even if the database is leaked.
  • Data uniqueness recognition: When processing big data, the al-Hashi value allows for a quick determination of whether the two objects are identical, which is very useful in the weight and cache system.
  • Extreme privacy guarantees: This tool is used Pure front-end local calculation 。 The calculations are done in your browser, whether in sensitive text or in private files. They will never be uploaded to any server, providing you with the highest level of privacy protection.

Common Hashi Alcairns Contrast

  1. MD5: Generate 128 Bit Hash value. Although extremely fast, due to collision holes, the high security encryption scene is no longer applicable and is currently used mainly for simple document integrity verification.
  2. SHA-1: Generates 160 bit Hash. Also due to reduced security, the algorithm is gradually being replaced by a more robust algorithm.
  3. SHA-256: One of the SHA-2 series, producing 256 Bit Hash value. Currently considered as an industry standard, it is widely applied in block chains (e.g. bitcoin), SSL certificates and modern software validation.
  4. SHA-512: Provide higher security, produce 512 bits of Hash. Application to specific enterprise-level applications that are highly safety-required.

Specific scenes to be addressed

Scenario one: Software developers release the version.
When publishing Release, use this tool to calculate the binary file SHA-256 and publish it in GitHub Release page for user verification.

Scenario 2: Check API signature.
When docking some payment or texting interface, the requested parameters are spelled in a ruled manner and then MD5 is required Add. By text mode you can quickly verify whether the locally generated signature is correct.

Scenario III: Compare the two documents with the same.
There is no need to compare content by line, but to calculate the hashi value for two documents separately, which, if Hashi were to agree, would necessarily be identical.
