Reaction speed test: understand your neurotransmission efficiency.
Response Time (Reaction Time means the time between the receipt of the signal and the stimulation to produce the corresponding action. It is an important indicator of the efficiency of the human nervous system and is important in areas such as motor performance, driving safety and electronic competition.
Scientific data on human response time
According to a large number of scientific studies, the data on the time of human visual reaction (click after seeing a signal) are as follows:
- Ordinary adult: About 200-300 ms
- Professional athletes: About 150-200 ms
- ELECTRONIC PLAYER: About 150-200 ms
- Physical limits: About 100-120 ms (nurmost period of neurotransmission)
Hearing response times are usually about 20-40 ms faster than visual, which is why field and field games use command guns rather than flags.
Factors affecting response time
Age: The response time peaked in the 20-25 years and was subsequently extended gradually with age.
Weary: In the case of sleep deprivation and fatigue, the response time increases significantly, by 30 to 50 per cent.
Caffeine: The calcium (approximately 200 mg) can reduce the response time by about 10-15 ms.
Practice: Through continuous training, response time can be significantly improved, but is limited to the biological limit of the individual nervous system.
Temperature: Low hand temperatures increase the response time, and moderate temperatures (25-30°C) help to optimize the state of performance.
Response time and driver safety
In the driving scene, reaction time is of the essence. The delayed response per 100 ms per 100 km/h means that the vehicle is travelling at an additional distance of approximately 2.8 metres. When the driver is exhausted or distracted, the response time may be increased from normal 250 ms to over 500 ms, significantly increasing the risk of accidents.
How can the response be increased?
- Sleep is the most effective way to restore the nervous system.
- Anaerobic motion, which has been shown to improve brain blood flow and cognitive functioning.
- Reduced use of mobile phones and social media and maintain high levels of focus
- Targeted exercises through response training games
- Practice meditation, improve focus and speed of information processing.
