What's an AA split?
AA Algebraic Average is the result of algebra averages, which in social settings mean the equal sharing of costs among individuals. However, in complex grouping or multi-person travel, there are often multiple individuals who pay different amounts. Our sub-counting calculator is designed to address this complexity by calculating whether each person is overpaid or underpaid relative to the average and by giving the most streamlined transfer formula.
How to use the AA subcount calculator?
- Total setup: Enter the total bill amount above for this consumption.
- Adding personnel: Click the Add Participants button to add additional people and to change names.
- Enter paid: Enter the amount paid in the input box after each name (and if not, 0).
- View results: The system automatically calculates per capita costs and gives the best option “how much money should be transferred to whom”.
- Reference charts: The balance distribution chart provides a visual indication of whether each person is in a position of profitability (overpayment) or in arrears (underpayment).
Importance of optimization of the accounts
Manual accounting for the split often leads to excessive transfers (e.g., transfers to a particular individual by each individual). Our algorithms employ a greedy strategy to automatically calculate the minimum number of transfers, making the settlement process more efficient and clear and avoiding the embarrassment of social settings.
